Cool! this is the first time I’ve ever heard of reusable food saver bags. Generally I just buy the rolls in those big bulk packages.
I also vacuum pack my extra clothes for my bug out bag. They take up a lot less space that way.

Didn’t know weather the hand pump vacuum bags were worth trying or not . I have a food saver , have had it for years and love it great for long term storage of ammo etc: Any way looks like I’m going to have to give them a try. Thanks excellent presentation.

Good video. I never had any luck with the Ziploc resealables either so I went back to the Foodsaver rolls. Have not tried the Foodsaver resealables.

I have a Rival seal a meal It’s a cheaper version of a foodsaver I often times have to re vacuum a bag as well the seal doesn’t last . That said I still have stuff sealed from a year ago that is holding strong so it’s hit or miss.

thanks you always have good videos. I was thinking of getting the Ziploc one but as im reading not so good, dose the food saver one have a hand pump?, If so dose it keep a good seal without the food saver sealing it?

If you are going to cut off the resealable part you might as well just use the rolls and make your own bags right? I’m assuming that is the cheapest way to go.

I used the attachment I made for bottles and it works great on the bags.

I have the reynolds handi vac. Their bags are pretty bad. 50% failure rate. But the ziplock bags really seam like 1 in 5 go bad. Both pumps work on both bags. But my jerkey always seems to poke little holes so I always double bag. Hope this helps some one.

I had the same problem with the Ziploc bags also Beast. One of these days I’ll invest in the Food Savor like you have.

what is the purpose of the ziploc bags with the pump if you have to go back and seal the bag with a food saver

  • By Bassman018, January 26, 2010 @ 2:03 am

Yea the ziploc vacuum didn’t hold a seal I want to try freezer bags with the tops cut off as foodwsaver bags with my new foodsaver.

The rolls can get expensive and hard to find.

I bought the ziplock bags and the first one I used failed within 24 hours. The most I am getting is a week on a seal. Even after putting a patch of Gorilla tape over the sealer hole. I contacted Ziploc about this. They sent me a coupon and seemed totally shocked at the problem. I mentioned to them that the seal rention is a known problem and that Youtube is a powerful tool. Bottom line…the bags just don’t hold a seal for very long….or at least have not for me.
