I want to seal some hardware (not food) in bags made of plastic sheets, the thicker types with thickness 4-6 mil. I plan to use plastic sheets available at retail stores like Walmart, e.g. Husky clear plastic sheeting made with recycled plastic (used mainly for paint drape, the package does not say Polyethylene but I assume it is).
Are the plastic sheetings of this type basically all the same and made of Polyethylene, in terms of durability, strength, resistence to water, etc. Assume the same thickness in the range 4-6 mil. I do not need vacuuming inside the bag. Or should I chose some specific sheeting made for sealing bags?
I have an Orved vacuum sealer which i use to seal meat and other perishable products. problem is a lot of them come unsealed after a couple of days. does anyone know why that is or should i change vacuum sealers?
A friend of mine has one of those Food Saver Vacuum Sealers. He has a couple ammo cans filled with vacuum-sealed 9mm ammo (100 bullets per sealed bag). He said doing this would keep the bullets in perfect condition for decades. Is he full of crap or is he on to something?
I recently made the mistake of dropping my phone in the toilet. I have heard in the past that if you put your phone in a bag of rice, the rice will absorb the moisture out of the phone… Now I have a vacuum sealer for canning food in bags, would it be beneficial or a hinderance to use that to vacuum seal a bag full of rice with my phone in it?
Hello,
I am planning to cook the entire week’s meals in one day and freeze it. I have never frozen cooked food before and wanted to know the pros n cons and how to go ahead about it. Do I need special freezer bags? Do I need vacuum sealers? etc. I plan to cook both meat n veggies.
I like the idea that the first one can be used with containers, but it only comes with 2, and additional are very expensive. I won’t be freezing any soups or sauces, so the bags might just be enough…
Can anyone share experiences or advice?
Thank you!
